Featherstone Sauvignon Blanc V.Q.A. from the Niagara Peninsula is an off-dry, medium-light white with 20% of the blend fermented in seven-year-old neutral Canadian oak barrels to add texture and weight while keeping the fruit clean and primary. On the nose it's fragrant and bright, with white grapefruit, fresh gooseberry, dried elderflower, and a whisper of white pepper. On the palate it's juicy and rounded, with tangerine zest, green mango, crushed limestone, and a long, zesty finish with lively, mouth-watering acidity. Winemaker David Johnson produced his first vintage at Featherstone in 1999, and the Twenty Mile Bench estate has been insecticide-free from day one, using ladybugs, lacewings, and pheromone traps to manage the vineyard naturally. In 2003 Johnson was named Ontario Grape King and Featherstone was named Vineyard of the Year; in 2019 he added Ontario Winemaker of the Year to his record, making him the only person in the province to hold all three titles. Drink it now through 2028. Pour it alongside grilled lemon and herbed chicken, where the wine's citrus edge and gentle sweetness lock in perfectly with the herbs, or try it with a soft chèvre and green salad for a no-fuss summer pairing.

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: grilled lemon and herbed chicken, soft cheeses, green salads.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
