Featherstone Gamay Noir from the Niagara Peninsula is a vegan-friendly, medium-bodied red that showcases just how naturally suited Ontario's cool climate is to this beguiling Burgundian grape variety. Bright ruby in the glass, it charms with a nose of pressed rose petal, warm baking spice and a whisper of smoked charcuterie, flowing into flavours of candied hibiscus, orange zest and a savory thread of forest floor on the palate, all lifted by gossamer tannins and a snappy, refreshing acidity that gives this wine its irresistible energy and charm. Aged for 10 months in American oak barrels, it is dry and best served lightly chilled, drinking beautifully now through 2028. Featherstone is a certified vegan-friendly winery nestled on the Niagara Escarpment, and winemaker David Johnson has long championed Gamay as one of the most food-friendly and underappreciated varieties in the Ontario winemaking canon, crafting this bottle as outstanding value at under $20. Serve it with chicken Parmesan fresh from the oven, where the wine's snappy acidity and floral charm will cut through the rich tomato sauce and melted cheese with ease, or pour it alongside turkey burgers topped with caramelized onion and Dijon mustard, letting its spiced, earthy character complement every satisfying bite.

Gamay Noir food pairings: chicken parmesan, pork tenderloin, turkey burgers.
