Reviews and Ratings

Community Reviewer rated this wine as 89/100
This 2013 Pinot Noir is a very pleasant wine. It comes from Bernard Perrin. It is a light weighted red wine with focus on the gentle structure and smoky finish. This French wine displays aromas of woodland berries, tart cherries and a reminder of summer BBQs. The flavours are cherries, blackberries and burnt wood. The grapes came from Domaine Thevenot-Le Brun & Fils in the Burgundy region of France. This fine wine aged for twelve months in used barrels. The grapes for this French red wine grow in a vineyard owned by one person, a.k.a. a monopole, which is rare in Burgundy, and in fact, this is the single example in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits. The estate's 7 hectares of vines were first planted by nuns in the thirteenth century who lived and worked in the nearby Abbaye du Lieu-Dieu. The vines, planted in chalk-clay soils, are surrounded by a low stone wall, thus the name clos. Phylloxera killed many of the vines in the eighteenth centruy, but the vineyard was replanted in the 1960s by Maurice Thevenot, the grandfather of Nicolas.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
