Calcaire refers to the calcareous soils in which these vines are planted and are famous in France. Lots of minerality as a result. The grapes for this Californian Chardonnay were hand harvested, hand-sorted and whole-cluster pressed. Only free-run and soft-pressed juice is used, which is the freshest and best quality juice. The wine was barrel fermented in 60% new French oak barrels before malolactic fermentation and aged sur lie. Buttery-rich and mouth-filling with aromas of ripe peach, pear and apple. Perfect for dinner parties. Pair with grilled chicken.

Chardonnay food pairings: oriental chicken salad with yoghurt and citrus dressing, sautéed pork loin, grilled chicken breast.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

What a lovely Chardonnay! Smooth and luscious, lots of pear, apple, lemon and lime on the nose, along with some some buttery oak. This wine is 100% French oak barrel fermented and aged sur lie for a buttery texture, but still remains fruit forward on the palate, with lots of citrus and apple coming through. Perfect for classic herb roasted chicken.
