Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

One of the iconic Tuscan producers, Gaja's 2013 Ca'Marcanda Promis is a bold blend of Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese. Deep ruby red in colour, the nose shows a beautiful blend of sweet dark fruit, plum, espresso, spice and herbs, with savoury Sangiovese leather, balsamic, and dried leaves notes. Dry, with good balance of tart dark berries, cacao, leather, charcoal, and tannins. A prime wine to enjoy with grilled lamb, pasta Bolognese, or your favourite pizza. Tasted November 2015. 92 points. Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Gaja's Ca'Marcanda Promis is a blend of Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese. With subdued earthy notes on the nose, it exhibits the smoothness of Merlot, a contained spicy palate from the Syrah and sour cherry on the finish from the Sangiovese. A very harmonious, balanced medium-bodied red that would match with anything in a tomato sauce.
This Italian red wine is made by winemaker Angelo Gaja in the Tuscan coastal region of Maremma. The 2013 vintage of the Ca'Marcanda Promis is a blend of Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese grapes with lots of acidity and sour cherry on the palate. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
