Toasted almond on the nose and palate of this medium-bodied Niagara Chardonnay. The oak regime is evident here from start to finish. White apricot and chalky dry finish. Pair with chicken in a cream sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Pale straw. Gorgeous nose and palate. Complex, structured, well balanced, dry. Nose of Crème brûle, apple crumble. Palate of apple, clover honey, almond. Pairs well with roasted chicken. Tasted 2013 vintage in April 2018. 93 points
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Bachelder is on eof Canada's most interesting winemakers - focusing specifically on Burgundian varietals. This one, from the Saunders vineyard in Beamsville, is in a slightly more typically oxidative style. For that Chard lover who digs their Chardonnays with a lot of oaky broadness.
Medium lemon in colour - showing off some mature colour already.
Aromas pf buttery flake pastry and apple. Some florality and subtle baking spices.
More acidity to refresh the palate than expected. Baked apple, lemon curd, vanilla bean.
This could keep for a five year term in the cellar, but it would definitely impress if it was put with lobster thermidor, or brandy glazed chicken thighs.
From the Beamsville Bench on the Niagara Escarpment, Bachelder Saunders Vineyard (2013) Chardonnay is dry, medium-bodied with a white stonefruit, spice, and toasted nut nose. The Chardonnay grapes for this Niagara white wine are grown in a vineyard that is only two and half kilometres of Lake Niagara. - Community Wine Reviews
