L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep, dark ruby wine, rich dense colour! Pronounced aroma of juicy fruit; blackberry, dark cherry, some plum, with vanilla and a smoky, savoury quality akin to garrigue. On the palate a juicy rich deep flavour of blackberry with herbal and faint woody notes and well structured tannin. A joy to drink and will be appreciated by aficionados of northern Côtes du Rhône Syrah. Excellent with grilled, caramelized steak and caramelized roasted vegetables; both dishes included marinades reminiscent of "garrigue" herbs especially rosemary and thyme which complemented the smoky and savoury notes in the wine.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Smooth , fruity and spicy. Dark plum and berries abound on the palate with fairly grippy tannins. This wine would pair well with cassoulet or hearty stew. Tasted Dec 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com

Natalie's Review

Barahonda Barrica Monastrell Syrah 2016, Yecla D.O., Spain: A huge, towering Spanish red wine blend produced from Monastrell and Syrah wine grapes from 45-year-old vines from the Yecla wine region. A dark soul with aromas of Blackberry bramble, black liquorice, olives, dried garrigue herbs on the nose. Dark plum, cocoa, leather, dark berry compote and savoury herbs on the palate matched with juicy, structured tannins. Produced from organically grown grapes. Enjoy now and for the next three years. Pair with venison stew. Drink: 2019-2023. 378869 14.50% D 750 mL  $17.95 Score: 90/100. January 11, 2020 Best Value Red wine. Glorious Game Wine  Full Review
