This robust, toasty New Zealand Chardonnay has toasted almond and hazelnut on the nose from oak aging, with a rich, mouth-coating texture on the palate. Aromas of golden apple and peach. Long finish. Pair with roast chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Villa Maria's Cellar Selection Chardonnay is loaded with nutty pastries, orchard fruit, lees, and toast. The palate shows crisp orchard fruit, toasted almond, and spice on a fresh and palate cleansing finish. Enjoy with seafood dishes, Baja fish tacos, or aged Balderson cheddar cheese. Tasted December 2016. 90 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Cora Beaulieu rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Lightly oaked Chardonnay, with lovely vanilla, buttered toast, cashew and pastry aromas. Hints of lemon, tasty peach and nectarine fruits. Citrus acidity refreshes the creamy palate. Its taste is fruity, more tropical (pineapple) and has a long luscious lemon finish. Enjoy with poultry, roasted pork or creamy pasta dishes or better yet, enjoy on its own.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
