Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Meaty, meaty, meaty! Steak, steak, steak! A beautiful Côtes du Rhône-style 92% Syrah (clone 100) and 8% Viognier red wine blend produced from estate-grown grapes from Vanessa Vineyard in the Similkameen Valley.

Opaque ruby in the glass, fragrant with cooked bacon, grilled meat, cloves, pink rose petals, dark cherry, liquorice aromas, distinct but well-married. Powerful elegance, medium-plus-bodied with juicy dark cherry, plum, liquorice, menthol, pepper and oak spice with a smooth and juicy long sour cherry finish to mid-palate topped with a smattering of mochanilla. From a fairy-tale vintage and exceptionally well-crafted.

The Syrah and Viognier grapes were co-fermented, then aged 20 months in new and previous-use oak barrels (60% American oak / 40% French oak).

Delicious with a prime roast of beef done rare. Tasted May 2020.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
