Sweet chocolate and blueberry jam on the nose and palate of this full-bodied Italian red wine with aromas of mocha, coffee-espresso and smoke for lots of oak barrel aging. Dark berries and plums on the palate of this full-bodied, smooth wine. If you have a sweet tooth, this wine is for you. Pair with Mexican mole, a traditional dish with dark chocolate.

Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: cheese stuffed tortellini with rich tomato sauce, veal parmesan, chicken stew and roasted vegetables.

Reviews and Ratings

Cherie Cole rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This medium-bodied Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon blend presents aromas and flavours of dark fruit preserves, ripe plum, chocolate and sweet smoke. The mouthfeel is round with smooth tannins. Pair this wine with a hearty beef stew.
Umberto Cesari Liano (2014) is a rich, full-bodied Italian Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon red wine from the Emilia Romagna wine region. This wine previously won a Gold Medal at the Sélections Mondiales des Vins in Montreal. The Umberto Cesari winery celebrated its 5-year anniversary in 2016 for being named Italian Winery of the Year at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London. Pair with gourmet hamburgers. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
