Reviews and Ratings

Lori Kilmartin - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Umani Ronchi has vineyards in Abruzzo and Marche. Both areas that are under represented in our Ontario LCBO's - in my opinion anyway!

This 100% Montepulciano comes from the Conero region of Marche. Only 4,900 bottles were made in 2015.

This is the northernmost area in Italy growing Montepulciano and the vineyard is a stone's throw from the Adriatic Sea.

Flavours and aromas of cherry and blueberry with herbal notes. Tannins are fine but still tightly wound. Medium body and dry (only 2 g/l) with 13.5% alcohol.

I visited Marche and Abruzzo in 2018 and tasted many Montepulciano from older vintages that had stood the test of time. This would be a good vintage to buy several bottles and cellar to fully appreciate it's qualities.

Tasted Sept. 17/19 Grand Marchi

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
