A robust Portuguese red wine blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Cao grapes. Aged in oak barrels for 10 months. Robust with a firm tannic grip on the palate. Attractive black fruit, tar, toasty oak and smoke. Decant 1-2 hours. Pair with rare meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Dense, dark and ready to enjoy. This is a beautiful Portuguese gem showing ruby red with garnet hue. Has aged very well and could sit easily another 5 years. Tasted 2009 vintage decanted 2 h in May 2017. Ripe plum, stewed blackberry, hint of blueberry, leather, graphite minerality and savoury. Great complexity, well balanced and alcohol integrating nicely. Full bodied, medium plus fruit, acidity, tannins. Declared 14.5% ABV. Pair with roasted or grilled red meats. 91 points. #BespokeTastings
An area of the Tras-Os-Montes designation in the heart of the Douro Region.
The winemaker Antonio Barbosa does not bottle his brand every year. In the years where the quality of the wine does not meet expectations of his Reserva wines, he simply sells his products to other to bottle under other brands.
A minimum of 10 months in oak.
Tasting Notes:
Clear with a rubi red color with chestnut tones.
A complex aroma with notes of dried fruits, mushroom must and an evolution of oak.
A very pleasant flavor, soft well balanced tannins with
a long , persistent and agreeable finish.
