This Trivento Reserve Malbec is a plush, fruit-driven red with aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, and blueberry, accented by violet, cocoa, and a touch of vanilla from oak aging. The palate is medium to full-bodied, dry, and velvety, with smooth tannins, fresh acidity, and 13.5% alcohol lending balance and depth. Serve it at room temperature to let its fruit and spice unfold. This Reserve Malbec is crafted for enjoyment now but will age gracefully for 4–6 years, gaining complexity with time. Trivento, named for the “three winds” that sweep across Mendoza, has become Argentina’s best-selling Malbec brand worldwide, showcasing the grape that defines the region. The grapes are grown in the most prestigious regions of the country, thriving in high-altitude vineyards in the foothills of the Andes, where the temperature difference between day and night creates incredible complexity. Mother Nature has created the perfect spa retreat for grapes: hot days, cool nights, and mountain views. The wine shows an intense red color with aromas of ripe cherry and red currant, finishing with a whisper of vanilla smoke—a scent that makes you pause because the wine demands your full attention. I’d pair this with grilled portobello mushrooms stuffed with herbed quinoa and topped with melted aged cheddar, or dark chocolate chili simmered with tender beef and a hint of cinnamon, where the wine’s rich fruit and spice complement and elevate each bite.

Malbec food pairings: grilled steak and chimichurri, where the wine’s bold fruit and spice stand up to the smoky richness. Or enjoy it with roasted eggplant and tomato ragù, where its freshness and berry notes echo the dish beautifully.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A great value every vintage. Aromas of blackberry, along with notes of graphite and woodsmoke. Full bodied on the palate with soft but grippy tannins, deep fruit and berry flavours, and a lengthy finish. Enjoy with any grilled meats.
