Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Township 7 Vineyard & Winery's Benchmark Series NBO 2022 is rich, plushy and sooooo smooth. Crafted from grapes sourced from the winery’s Blue Terrace Vineyard, North Bench Oliver estate in British Columbia, this full-bodied, hedonistic Bordeaux-style beauty is a blend of 55.9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 44.1% Merlot. Deep dark ruby in the glass, it beckons you with ripe dark berry, black currant, plum compote and dark chocolate aromas layered and lush on the palate with polished tannins and a satisfyingly long finish.

Winemaker’s notes: Fermented in both large-format wood and stainless-steel tanks with daily remontage, the wine was barrel aged for 24 months in French (70%) and American (30%) oak barriques, 15% new. Decant for an hour or two prior to pouring it with a filet mignon done rare or cellar the wine to 2030. Tasted September 2026.

While 2022 was another year of extreme weather and conditions for grape growing, including hail in late July which damaged leaves and left some bruising on fruit, temperatures moderated throughout August, September and October with grapes reaching full ripeness with good acidity and giving higher yields over vintages from the three previous years. With excellent conditions for the fall harvest, the 2022 vintage is one of Township 7's best.
