Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

What a lovely, refined and elegant Riesling! Township 7 Vineyards & Winery Benchmark Series Riesling is lush but refined, mouth-filling but beautifully balanced with medium-plus acidity which is spot on for this Riesling. The 2020 finishes long but with no sharp edges, caresses the mid-palate and wraps it elegant self around the tongue. Fresh on the nose and palate, with a touch of petrol, then orange blossom and mineral notes that waft out of the glass, this Riesling is absolutely bright with acidity, and even a bit mouth-watering, but the abundance of apricot, fresh pineapple, fresh-cut hay, lime zesty flavours along side gravelly mineral notes rise up to meet that acidity and so the wine is mouth-filling and beautifully balanced within itself with just the right amount of everything. A gorgeous Riesling to drink now or hold to 2028. Tasted November 2023.

This single-vineyard 100% Riesling is produced from grapes sourced from the Fool’s Gold Estate in North Oliver and is owned by Mark Antonello, a well-known vineyard manager. "The western sloping site benefits from the afternoon sun with the sandy clay loam soil containing a lot of rocks and gravel, providing excellent drainage.” Grapes were gently pressed and cold settled prior to a long cold ferment (10-12°C) in stainless steel and neutral oak barrels.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
