Reviews and Ratings

Campfire and hickory smoke on the nose with dried herbs. Full-bodied with layers of black plums and tar. Pair with roast beef. MINE: Fantastic value on this South Australia Shiraz from Thorn-Clarke. Terra Barossa is earthy, dark, rich and dense with lush blackberry and plum fruit finishing with liquorice spice -- a classic from Barossa. OTHER: Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: This one has loads of black and red fruit. It was fermented in temperature controlled roto-fermentation tanks. All this helps preserve the purity of the fruit flavours of Barossa Shiraz. It saw a moderate 12 months in French oak. It's concentrated and pure tasting. Bold, but with very pretty aromatics that blend typical Shiraz spiciness (pepper and eucalyptus). It's by no means overoaked, but I really loved the balance of it. Remarkable, for an under $20 selection. This producer makes some great value wines that over deliver for what you pay (usually >$25.00). They also have a Bordelais blend with Shiraz tossed in, called Shotfire Quartage. It's also pretty terrific. OTHER: Perry rated this wine as 87/100. OTHER: Youthful purple. Black and blue fruits, vanilla and licorice on the perfumed nose. Sweet and broad in the mouth; a peppery note adds spicy lift and cut to sweet cassis and blackberry flavors. Supple tannins come in late, adding shape to a long, dark-fruit-dominated finish. Score - 90 (Josh Raynolds, vinous.com, Sept. 2017). - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
