Natalie's Score: 89/100

Juicy purple and black plum aromas with dark spice. Happy, straight-up pleasure in a glass. Full-bodied, but not heavy. This wine is a non-traditional blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes. Some terrific notes of cherry and blackberry on the finish. I love this producer's sense of humour as evident by the name of this wine and others. Pair with roast goat.

Food pairings: meat lovers' pizza, chicken wings, grilled burgers, sausages.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Such a nice blend of some Italian varietals, including Sangiovese, Barbera and Nebbiolo along with Cabernet Sauvignon. Bright red fruit on the nose, including red plum, cherry and currant, along with subtle smoky and spicy notes. Full bodied with some medium tannins, and a nice balance of fruit and acidity on the palate. Tasty and versatile, and a great value as well. Enjoy with roast pork or lamb.
The Goatfather is a great value and non-traditional South African red wine blend from the Coastal wine region of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera and Nebbiolo red wine grapes, but lots of flavour here! Some terrific notes of cherry and blackberry on the finish. I love this producer's sense of humour as evident by the name of this wine and others. Pair with roast goat. - Community Wine Reviews
