Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Red skin plum, black tea, white flowers, pepper and cedar emanate from this Foundation Stone 2014 wine. Produced in the Western Cap region of South-Africa, a crafty blend of Shiraz, Mourvedre, Grenache, Cinsault and Tannat were used to create this full bodied wine. The final work resulted in juicy red cherry, black pepper, cinnamon, and a hint of flint and salt. The level of tannins and the freshness of the acidity give this wine a subtitle short finish. Enjoy.

Christian Marcoux
From South Africa's Western Cape wine region, The Foundation Stone (2014) is a robust and intense red wine blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Cinsault and Tannat. This is one for the cellar -- three to five years to show its best. Decant for two hours and pair with game stews. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
