Tenuta San Leonardo from Trentino reveals aromatic layers of red currant, black cherry, wild herbs, and hints of cardamom with a whisper of forest floor. Dry and medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, it flows across the palate with vibrant berry fruit and closes with a peppery, herbal finish. Serve it slightly below room temperature or cellar it through 2028. Anselmo Guerrieri Gonzaga, who has led the estate since 2001 alongside consultant winemaker Carlo Ferrini, crafts this second wine blending 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 10% Carmenère aged for twelve months in a combination of French oak and concrete. The estate has been in the Guerrieri Gonzaga family since 1770 and earned the prestigious title of Gambero Rosso's 2025 Winery of the Year, recognition that places this historic Trentino property among Italy's most celebrated wine producers. Pair this expressive red with rosemary-rubbed roasted chicken where the wine's herbal notes beautifully echo the aromatics, or enjoy it with grilled portobello mushrooms topped with aged Parmigiano-Reggiano as the earthy flavors meld seamlessly with the wine's savory character.

Food pairings: rosemary-rubbed roasted chicken, grilled portobello mushrooms with Parmigiano-Reggiano, beef and vegetable stew.
