From the renowned Castagneto Carducci region in Tuscany, Tenuta San Guido Le Difese 2022 is a delightful red blend of 60% Sangiovese and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. This vibrant wine offers flavours of red berries, bright cherry, and rose petal, with delicate herbal nuances and a hint of sweet tobacco. Its zesty and spicy character is balanced by smooth tannins, making it an enjoyable wine to savour now through 2032. Pair it with grilled meats or a classic pasta with Bolognese sauce.

Food pairings: prime rib, hearty meat stews, pork tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This is the only wine in the Tenuta San Guido lineup that includes Sangiovese in the blend. The 70% Sangiovese component uses grapes sourced from the Montespertoli and Chianti Rufina regions while the remaining Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Bolgheri estate. It is a wine meant to be enjoyed young and to hold broad appeal. Having said that there is nothing 'crafted' about it. It has a harmonious nose of plums and violets. The plum carries over to the palate which is medium-bodied and beautifully balanced. The silkiness of the palate is notable with fine, mouth-coating tannins appearing on the finish. Enjoy with charcuterie or flatbread with mushroom confit.
