Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

There are some weeks, I just hit on exceptional wines, such as this biodynamic 2018 Riesling from Summerhill Pyramid Winery. The winery and vineyard are Demeter Certified and this amazingly rich and vibrant Riesling is sourced from 21B Riesling clones that are over 40 years of age. The wine was fermented in stainless-steel tanks and fermentation was halted by super chilling at the desired residual sugar / acid level at 43 g/L RS, 8.7 TA at 11% abv. It is fragrant with ripe stone fruit, petrol and mineral notes; off-dry, medium-plus-bodied, smooth and lush on the mid-palate with honeyed apricot, peach, green apple, lime zest, lemon curd and flinty mineral notes and balanced with brilliant, zingy acidity. Finishes long and luxurious. Beautiful now, but has the fruit, acidity, body and structure to age for five-to-eight years in cellar. In fact, it would be interesting to see how it evolves and develops! A beautifully crafted Riesling so expressive of its terroir from the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. Enjoyed with chicken Kiev. Tasted March 2022.
