Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

Recently, I’ve taken to drinking wines from my cellar (imagine that?!) So, this week’s pick was Stag’s Hollow 2014 Cabernet Franc from OK Falls in the Okanagan Valley. This was an absolute stunner of a Cabernet Franc and I have tasted a few.

Dry, full-bodied, rich but not heavy, so smooth with raspberry liqueur, cinnamon, white pepper and tobacco spice flavours, spicy, earthy, bay and dried savoury herbs with notes of candied cherry and a kiss of Madagascar vanilla with a loooong, smooth and fresh finish on the palate. Right, a stunner Cab Franc! So, 10 years later, this winsome wine is still going… Well, actually, no longer but so worth the sacrifice. So, if you have a Stag’s Hollow Cab Franc 2014, you are a very lucky person. Drinking beautifully now but can easily hold to 2026, we enjoyed it with rosemary-rubbed lamb shanks in a rich red wine sauce. Tasted February 2024.

Established in 1995, Stag’s Hollow is a family-owned winery. In 2013, Stag’s Hollow was awarded the Lieutenant Governor Award for its Cachet No. 03 and in 2014, it ranked in the top 10 wineries in Canada at the National Wine Awards.
