Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A delightful Sauv Blanc from Swartland WO in South Africa. Tropical fruit, gooseberry and a little grass on the nose, then the palate shows grassy notes with bright lemon twist and tropical passionfruit. Extra-dry with mouth-watering acidityand a long zippy citrus finish.
This South African white wine is produced by Charl du Plessis and The Spice Route Team. Five centuries ago the ancient mariners braved uncharted seas to round the Cape of Good Hope in search of exotic spices. Thus it became known as the Spice Route through treacherous waters off the coast of South Africa. The vines are low yielding and unirrigated which yields small berries of concentrated flavour. The vineyards planted on the West Coast at Darling overlook the cooling Atlantic Ocean and are planted deeply in Oakleaf soils. Classic South African Sauvignon Blanc with leanings toward New Zealand in its good-natured grassy manner. - Community Wine Reviews
