Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is not a wine made from oranges - despite the name and appearance. Orange wine is a trendy new technique where a white grape is macerated and treated like a red grape varietal to create a full, intense flavour and aromatic profile.
Paul DeCampo hints that he and others at Southbrook feel this is how Vidal naturally wants to taste.
Slightly turbid (a little cloudiness never hurt anyone). Burnt orange/gold in colouration.
The aromas are intensely redolent of Manzanilla (mustard seed, nuts, and flor).
The extra skin contact ensured that there is still structure. Pleasant acidity keeps it fresh. Papaya, cantaloupe, app,e skin, lemon zest, and some lactic notes. This is very compelling.
The flavours are a little fruitier than the aromas. Much more on the apple and citrus zest. Grapefruit, and an autolytic/lactic note.
An experimental oddity for Niagara. I would like to see it clarified, but that is always a bit of an issue for orange wine.
This wine is organic, biodynamic, and an intensely complex flavour experience. Pair it with pungent food. Tapas or chili roasted cashews come to mind...
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Cloudy, orange gold in the glass - the nose is very present - nutty, marmalade, and herbal. This wine is dry, really dry. There is a flavor of burnt orange and poached apples that lingers, it is really quite delicious - versatile with many foods, especially some hard cheeses, or smoked trout.
