Black cherry liqueur and spices on the nose and palate of this rich, luscious, full-bodied Italian red wine. Made using the appassimento method of drying the grapes before fermentation to add weight, colour, alcohol and flavour to the final wine. Pair with roast beef.

Amarone Della Valpolicella food pairings: aged cheeses, grilled game meats, meaty game stews.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A nice example of an older style Amarone at a reasonable price. Dried fruit aromas followed by raisiny fruit on the palate. Not massive but smooth rich and alluring.
Sopra Sasso 2014 is a well-priced Amarone Della Valpolicella from the Veneto wine region produced with the traditional Rondinella, Corvinone, and Corvina Veronese wine grapes for Amarone and done in the passito style. Great for grilled pork long ribs. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
