Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The winemaking team really pulled out all of the stops to make a quality Chardonnay with this effort here. Hand-harvested fruit from only the best parcels of the vineyard were whole-cluster pressed, and only the free-run juice was fermented with wild yeast in a mix of new and used French oak barrels. The result is a sophisticated and complex Chardonnay pairing subtlety and balance. Mild lemon and apple match oak spice over a bed of minerality, lined with a mesmerising contrast of crisp and soft. This is more of a sit, sip, and contemplate wine than a food wine for me. That being said, some fresh oysters or grilled shrimp would make a divine pairing.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

If you are a fan of unoaked chardonnay with a clean, citrusy seam this one is for you. Nice, clean and crisp. Good length on the finish. Serve with chicken, seafood, light creamy pastas. Tasted June 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Mappinga 2016 Chardonnay is a juicy and fruity with acacia honey, golden apple, ripe tropical fruit, toasty with just enough toasty oak treatment to give it buttery richness and complexity lemon curd, coconut and butternut flavours on the palate. Nicely done! Pair with grilled fish and lobster rolls. Grapes were whole-bunch pressed and the free-run juice wild-fermented and matured for 10 months in new and used French oak. Awarded three Gold medals at the 2017 Adelaide Wine Show, New Zealand and Spain. - Community Wine Reviews

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
