From Lake County's high-elevation Big Valley, High Valley, and Red Hills appellations, the sustainably farmed 2019 Shannon Ridge High Elevation Cabernet Sauvignon offers layers of ripe blackberry, dried cranberry, black pepper, and allspice, framed by burly yet approachable tannins. Lush, long, and juicy, it finishes with a kiss of vanilla from 24 months in French and American oak barrels. Drink or hold.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: grilled venison steak, bison burgers, rack of lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Rich and robust, this Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of plum, tart cranberry, and currants, as well as notes of graphite, baking spice, and leather. Full bodied, smooth on the palate, with some drying tannins which mellow after an hour or so in the decanter. Acidity is bright and provides great balance to ripe and dried berry notes, and there is a dry, dusty finish with hints of spice. Enjoy with slow braised beef dishes.
