Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Patagonia does some amazing things with burgundian varietals - here is the evidence. The typical clone of Chardonnay that argentina is known for is called the Mendoza clone - the berries in the bunch ripen at slightly different rates (hens and chicks). This means the vine produces a wonderful range of aromatics in a single wine. This clone has begun to be used in Australia and New Zealand too.
This wine has a medium lemon colour with green and gold hues.
The aromas are fantastic! Banana cream pie, lemon and lime juice, wet wool, orange zest, apple blossom, and a dusting of confectioner's sugar. I could go on...
The flavours do not disappoint either. Soft and generous flavours of banana, barbecued pineapple, peach, nectarine, quince, and mango. There is oak aging - mostly french, first and second use barrels. It is integrated beautifully.
This could keep for a couple of years, but tastes great right now. It's so inexpensive, buy a few and sit on them, or relent and enjoy it now with a crab bake.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

I'm not a big fan of oaked Chardonnays ... but I like this wine. The complexity is pretty much off the charts and I'm tasking it quite chilled. There's mandarin orange, white flower, yellow apple, pear, butterscotch. The taste is almost as complex, with the apple and butterscotch up from, and lots of the other notes from the aroma coming through. The acidity is high, and the wine retains a nice 'fresh' feel despite the oak. If you're a Chardonnay fan, you'll probably love this, and it's really worth a try even if you're not.

I'm pairing this with herbed roasted chicken and vegetables, and I expect great things.
Melissa Pulvermacher reviewed this wine as follows:

This wine is 16.25 in vintages. This wine has a natural, fresh salinity and a stony/steely note that follows through to the palate. The palate is round and the acidity maintains the backbone of this wine.
Nicole Lewis reviewed this wine as follows:

The nose is perfumed, but not floral, notes of lemon, ripe apples and raw almonds presage a medium to full-bodied chardonnay with nut character. The finish is long, subtly fruited with moderated oak presence. Nicely balanced and wearing its 14% alcohol quite well. I would pair this with steam lobster with garlic butter.
The Argentine winery Secreto Patagónico was established in 2000 in the coolest part of the country, Patagonia. All of the wines that they produce are made from grapes grown in single vineyards. The 2012 vintage of their Chardonnay is full-bodied with toasty oak. - Community Wine Reviews
