Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

It is always surprising to see such good valued ports on the market. Douro has some of the world's first schemes for an appellation amd there are some ancient vineyards there that cost a fortune to maintain. Sandeman has some of those historic plots.
This wine is a single vintage wine that shows a lot of maturoty notes now, though vontage Ports can last a lot longer than this.
Beautiful ruby and garnet colour. Lifted aromas of dried fruit, cassis, cherry jelly, earth, smoke, and cocoa.
The acodity is still notoceable and balances the fruit off nicely. Still lovely dried fruit, some florality that lingers. Cherry, cassis, cocoa dust, and form tannins towards the finish.
Great wine and one I am sure will be snatched up quickly.
A common Port pairing is gorgonzola. Maybe change that up with fresh figs and pistachios.
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Just in time to pair with Christmas dark fruit cake! The Vau Vintage 1999 Port is a perfect treat on a cold Winter night. Fig, dark chocolate and baking spice aromas fill the glass. Full-bodied with a long, spicy and dried fruit finish.
Sandeman Vau 1999 is the right size (375ml) and perfect for pairing with after dinner blue-veined cheeses and dark chocolate nibs. This port is mature and read to drink, tannins are well-integrated and look for dried figgy fruit, prune, raisins and dried cherry flavours on the palate. - Community Wine Reviews

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
