Round, polished tannins give a velvet mouth-feel. This wine was aged 12 months in French oak. A richly hued wine that finishes with black plum, mocha and vanilla spice and a lick of black pepper. Pair with game dishes and duck comfit.

Malbec food pairings: lamb shanks in red wine and roasted garlic, grilled lamb lollipops, stuffed lamb tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This Malbec is from grapes grown at one of the highest wine elevations in the world, the slopes of the Argentinian Andes. Aromas of current, violet and vanilla are followed by flavours of plum, tobacco and oak. A very smooth finish. This would be delicious paired with grilled bison burgers.
Salentein Reserve (2014) is a hearty 100% Malbec red from the Uco Valley. Estate vineyards are located between 1,110 and 1,300 metres above sea level and diurnal fluctuations of day and night temperatures allowing the wine grapes to slowly and fully ripen giving a finesse and complexity to this wine. Pair with game dishes and duck comfit. - Community Wine Reviews
