Love this style of South African chardonnay. Toasty and rich but also mouth-watering and vibrant: it's got it all. This wine was aged in 40% new and 60% second-use oak barrels for a year. Toasted almond and green apple on the nose with lime-orange citrus on the palate. Balanced and lovely with a long finish. Wow! Pair with grilled chicken.

Chardonnay food pairings: turkey burgers, crab cakes, chicken breast, lobster in butter sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

This is quite possibly my new favourite white wine. It's smooth and buttery, with a soft touch of toasty oak from having been aged for 12 months in French casks. Aromas of ripe apricot and vanilla are followed by bright flavours of zesty lemon and honeydew on the palate, with long lasting flavour in the finish. We paired it with roast pork and it was terrific. Great value at $19.95. Tasted November 1, 2017.
From the Stellenbosch wine region, Rustenberg (2015) is a toasty, rich well-structured buttery Chardonnay. There is a touch of smoke and flintiness to the wine without it being overbearing wrapped up with balanced acidity. Drink now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
