This is a robust and full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with a blackberry, cedar brush, dark cocoa and savoury spice flavours on the palate. Consistent vintage after vintage and a crowd pleaser. Founded in 1959 Rodney Strong Vineyards, the Klein family have been overseeing operations since 1989.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: pulled pork, burgers, hard cheese, grilled rare steak, smoked beef ribs.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This Sonoma County wine has an interesting nose and is different to the other Cab Sauv I sampled at the California Wine Fair. Aromas of cassis, hot chili pepper, cedar, pastrami, violet and chocolate. On the palate, it has fresh acidity and firm tannins. In terms of flavours, tart blackberry and cocoa with cedar notes seeping through and black peppercorn at the finish. Delicious! A perfect steak wine.

Tasted at the California Wine Fair in Ottawa April 2019.
From California, Sonoma County, Rodney Strong 2016 is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with a rich blackberry, cocoa and smoky vanillas flavours on the palate. The 2016 vintage matured for 16 months in three-quarters American and one-quarter French oak barrels. Tannins are grippy. Decant for two hours prior to pouring with meaty well-marbled steak. Rodney Strong Vineyards were founded in 1959. - Community Wine Reviews
