Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Deep gold, with an orange hue. Brilliant and bright. Declared 13.5% ABV. Medium sweet, with a thick, full-bodied presence. Burnt sugar, candied apple, and a hint of candied orange peel. Enjoy soon. Tasted the 2006 vintage in Jan 2017. Rated 88/100.
Szamorodni, which means “as it is grown,” is a tier of Tokay’s wines that can be either sweet or dry depending on the amount of botrytised grapes that are in the mix and when the fermentation stops. Thankfully, producers take the guesswork out by labeling the style. Matured for at least 2 or 3 years prior to release, they gain a mellow, slightly oxidative character not unlike the famous Vin Jaune wines from the French Jura region. Enjoy this unique treat chilled. Source: Vintages Panel
