This blockbuster Australian red wine is full-bodied, meaty, savoury and mouth-watering. Black fruit and tarry notes with warm toasty oak aromas and flavours. Delicious. About 30% of the wine is aged in 90% French and 10% American oak barrels for 1 year. Cries out for a juicy rare steak.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: pork tenderloin, lamb Bolognese, grilled New York strip loin, strong cheeses, Asian chicken salad.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Spice and ripe raspberries on the nose. The palate shows raspberry and cassis flavours with spice and vanilla undertones. Dry with a long cassis finish.
This robust Australian Cabernet is named in honour of the 19th century mail coach service that once drove through the winery's estate. A Pillar Box is a mail box from the same era. The grapes are grown in the Longbottom family vineyards planted in Padthaway. This wine was aged for 10 months in both French and American oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews
