Grilled meat aromas and savory notes of bacon and blackberries wrapped in smoke on the nose and palate. Full-bodied and rich with mocha and vanilla-spice on the finish. Tannic grip so decant 1-2 hours. Some leather and cigar box give this wine an intriguingly mature bouquet. Amazing for the price. Try this Spanish red wine rock star.

Tempranillo Garnacha food pairings: chorizo sausage empanadas, tapas dishes.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This wine packs a punch and is great on the wallet. Full bodied and complex with big blackberry, black pepper, baking spices and cigar box. Long finish with persistence of blackberry and peppercorn. Pairs well with braised beef. Tasted 2014 after 2h decant in September 2018. 90 points #greatvalue
Wonderful value for the Tempranillo and Garnacha full-bodied red wine blend from the Rioja wine region. Ontañón Crianza 2014 is produced from some of Ontañón's oldest vines. Look for ripe black cherry, anise, savoury meat flavours on the palate with a ripe, smooth dark fruit finish. Pair it with a grilled pork tenderloin. - Community Wine Reviews
