Reviews and Ratings

Gwen Barton rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby. Cherry and dark red fruit aroma. These same fruits along with some mineral notes and bitter chocolate are noticible on the palate. Some smokiness along with fairly smooth tannins makes this a remarkable value. Shared at family gathering with charcuterie plate- enjoyed by all!
This Spanish winery was established in 1930. Olivares gets the grapes from vines planted in sandy and chalk soils that have not been prone to the devastation of the phylloxera louse, that eats vine roots, and kills vines. Therefore, the estate has 110 hectares of ungrafted Monastrell vines of almost 50 years of age. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
