Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

With a nod to dwindling summer days, I am celebrating this Labour Day on the patio with Baillie Grohman’s 2016 Blanc de Noirs Rosé. This VQA wine is made from 100 per cent sustainably-farmed Pinot Noir grapes. Wine grapes are from the winery’s estate vineyards in Creston and were hand-harvested, destemmed and crushed, spending three and a-half days in cold skin contact to retain maximum freshness and fruit flavours. The PN juice was then gently pressed off the skins and fermented in cool, temperature-controlled tanks. On the nose, pronounced sweet-tart ripe red berries, particularly raspberry, can be found. Although the wine seems drier than it is on the palate, there is 22 grams/litre residual sugar. This rosé has medium weight mid-palate with more raspberry and fresh watermelon flavours met with a vibrant, zesty acidity. So refreshing, structured and balanced, a patio-perfect farewell-to-summer rosé. As an aside, the 2014 vintage of this wine won Best Rosé at the 2015 Best of Varietal Awards at the Okanagan Wine Festival.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
