Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Made from 100% Tempranillo, the Obalo 2017, from the Rioja region of Spain, offers a well made wine and an amazing sipper. Aromas of sour cherry, raisin, fig, dried leave, wet gravel, cigar box and cedar whirlwind into the glass. Full-bodied with a long finish, the wine presents soft tannins and noble structure. Palate, cherry, dried blueberry, black pepper, wood burner, cinnamon and cedar. Enjoy!
Obalo 2017 is a well-priced Rioja under $20 produced from 100% Tempranillo from terraced slopes in Sierra de Cantabria. Look for dark cherry, pink florals and meaty flavours on this full-bodied and savoury red. Pair with hard cheeses and smoked, cured meats. - Community Wine Reviews
