A juicy and intense Cabernet Merlot from a fantastic vintage in the Niagara, with fragrant cedar spice, cigar box and dried fruit on the nose. Medium-plus-bodied with cherry liqueur, black currant, spiced plum long and savoury on the palate. The red wine blend aged 24 months in barrel. Pair with a lamb shoulder roast.

Food pairings: roast goat shoulder with green beans and shallot and lemon dressing, venison curry, bison burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A blend of Cab and Merlot and matured in oak for 24 months, this wine is perfumed and delicate on the nose with soft red fruit, and classic Cabernet cassis and cedar notes. A slight dustiness to its tannins which end soft and velvety. Try it with penne with Chorizo, tomato and basil. @wrightwineblog
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

A full-bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Niagara, pale garnet in the glass with big, fruity aromas. Dark berries and cedar on the palate, medium tannins and a dry finish. Serve with roasted beef or lamb.
Produced by Hinterbrook winery in the Niagara Lakeshore wine region, Nomad Wanderlust 2016 is a medium-bodied, smooth Niagara red wine blend of Cabernet and Merlot matured 24 months in oak barrels. Juicy with layers of dark plum, blackberry, currants, underbrush, smoked savoury herbs and cedar spice flavours on the palate. Delicious on its own -- a glass or two by the hearth fire. Or enjoy with Sunday roast beef dinner and all the trimmings. - Community Wine Reviews
