Mt. Boucherie Summit 2018 is produced by winemaker, Jeff Hundertmark and is a rich and mouth-filling blend of 52% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, 17% Syrah with splashes of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon added to the lush and full-bodied mix. The wine is aged in 100% French oak (35% new) for two years. Grapes are sourced from the estate vineyards in the Okanagan and Similkameen valleys. Bright and enticing on the nose with liquid black cherry, cassis, blueberry, bramble leaf, red berry, cocoa, cedar spice and smoky vanilla flavours ultra-long and vibrant on the palate. Drink or hold. Pour with roast beef dinner.

Food pairings: roast beef, bison burgers, grilled game sausages.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Summit is Mt. Boucherie's proprietary blend and it is outstanding every year. The blend is aged in French oak for 13 months (35% in new barrels), along with some further aging in neutral oak. Aromas on the nose include ripe blackberry and plum, with hints of leather, tobacco, black pepper and a backbone of minerality. Full bodied and smooth on the palate rounded by oak, and mouthwatering acidity, and young, soft tannins. Fruit on the palate is round and ripe, with some earthy notes, tobacco and smoky hints, and a mineral finish. Great potential for aging too. Perfect steak wine.
