This Vinho Verde is a crisp white wine from Sogrape Vinhos that is green melon fresh and mouth-watering: loaded with personality. Great aperitif or companion to shellfish. This lively white really highlights the refreshing nature of the Alvarinho grape, which is known in Spain as AlbariƱo. Vibrant notes of lime-citrus course through the glass with a lovely silver seam of acidity to keep things interesting, especially with seafood. Finishes with stonefruit and white grapefruit notes. Terrific minerality.

Alvarinho food pairings: seafood tapas, spiced mixed olives with garlic and lemon zest, smoked fish appetizers, spring green salads.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This wine is lovely. It belongs with oily fish fresh from the sea. It features aromas and flavours of citrus, unripe stone fruit, verbena and a hint of lanolin. 90 points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Wine is medium lemon in colour, dry, zesty and refreshing, medium bodied and with a pleasing aroma of grapefruit, soft apple, pear, peach and wet stone. Taste is predominantly white grapefruit with some minerality in the background and apple. The wine has enough body to stand up to smoked salmon and would do well with other fish. A very pleasing sipper on its own or with food.
From the Vinho Verde wine region, Morgadio Da Torre (2015) is a zesty, lime-lemon zest Alvarinho from Portugal. Great balance and structure and great alone, but has enough acidity to merit food. Drink now, at its freshest, with grilled seafood. - Community Wine Reviews
