A stunning vintage for one of Canada's greatest wines. Oculus delivers superb breadth, depth and length. Seductive aromas of fleshy ripe dark fruit, violets, spices and smoke. The 2013 vintage is a blend of Merlot (51%), Cabernet Sauvignon (23%), Cabernet Franc (22%), and Petit Verdot (4%). It was aged for 16.5 months in French oak, 63% of which was new. Surprisingly supple and almost smooth on the palate: this will increase and deepen with cellar time. It will also benefit form 1-2 hours decanting. Pair with a rare filet mignon.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 96/100 with the following review:

Just a stunning wine! Aromas of black fruit and berry, violet, cedar smoke, cocoa, and warm spice. Full bodied, well-integrated tannins that are smooth but still offer some structure. More smoky and spicy on the palate, with some dark fruit on the finish, which is lengthy. Enjoy with special friends and and celebrations.
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted Aug. 15th, 2017 at the R.O.M ( Royal Ontario Muesum ). Colour ruby red plus, Aromas and Flavours, plum, black fruit, fruitcake, chocolate. Taste, very dry, cream mouthfeel, dark fruit, grippy tannin. Long finish of rich dark plum chocolate. This is a very nice rich wine. A Bordeaux blend with a warm climate expression. A wine that would pair well with expensive meat dishes and hard cheese. This to me is a special occasion wine, drink with good friends who enjoy big bold wines.
