From the Piedmont wine region, Michele Chiarlo Le Orme 2020 Barbera D'asti is fragrant with pink florals, violets, raspberry, cherry and savoury herb flavours vibrant and juicy on the palate. The wine spent 16 months mellowing and ageing in French oak casks prior to bottling and release. Excellent value at $16, on a wine classified at the DOCG level. Vineyards also form part of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.

Barbera D'asti food pairings: roasted pepper, tomato and pasta casserole, grilled Italian sausage, tomato risotto, vegetarian lasagne, Margherita pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Pretty, bright, and fresh Barbera, with aromas of raspberry, plum and cherry with hints of florals, and a note of dried herbs. Medium bodied on the palate, bright acidity with a soft touch of tannins. Bright fruit on the palate, balanced nicely with that acidity and a touch of savoury herbs. Enjoy with rustic stews or hearty game meats.
