This savoury and juicy red wine, features big black plum and berry aromas and flavours. Full-bodied and smooth carmenere. Offers incredible quality and taste for the price. Try it with a hearty meat dish. Lovely dark spices and black plums on the nose of this robust red wine. Decant for 1-2 hours.

Carmenere food pairings: spicy red meats,  tomato-based dishes, rare steak,  dark chocolate.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Holy incredible!!! Tasted this baby blind and let's just say, it was humbling. This vintage was harvested well into May 2013 (that's November for the Northern Hemisphere brain) so it's pretty much late harvest; but, after all, Carmenere does take time to ripen right?

This Carmenere has clean pronounced aromas of licorice, sweet spice, black cherry, cassis, dark chocolate, jammy berry fruit, vanilla and hints of graphite. This wine is dry, has high acidity, moderate levels of tannins, and is full bodied. Key flavours include: sweet spice, dark chocolate, black fruit, cedar and licorice. The mouthfeel and texture is quite velvety and the finish is long. This wine also has potential for ageing. I recommend (if you are impatient) decanting it early and pair with burgers, steaks or braised beef.
This Chilean Carmenere features notes of fleshy blackberries and dark raspberries, with some mocha on the finish. - Community Wine Reviews
