From Waihopai, Marlborough, South Island, Marisco Vineyards, The King's Favour 2020 Sauvignon Blanc is very expressive of its terroir. Herbal and mouth-watering with gooseberry, tropical fruit (particularly guava), lime leaf and citrus peel finishing long and savoury on a briny mineral note. Chill and enjoy it with oysters on the half shell or vongole. The ancestors of the winemaker Brent Marris were appointed by the court to guard the Devon coasts of England in 1204, thus receiving the "King's Favour".

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: Masala salad, saffron potato cakes, spinach and watercress salad with raspberry dressing.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is an abundantly fruity and floral Sauvignon Blanc from the cool climate of Marlborough’s Waihopai region. It showcases aromas of passionfruit, delicate citrus and stone driven minerals that linger in the background against a fresh herbal hieroglyph. There’s a splash of brisk acidity that shows the terroir of the Waihopai region is renowned for, and it follows this beauty like a ray of sunshine gently whispering favours into the King’s ears. A fine fresh clean body, firm in flavour and mouth watering vibrancy. This would be a great pairing with herbed goats cheese atop a mixed leafy green salad or a pensive game of chess, whilst guarding the King’s favour.
