Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Great value on this old vines red from Douro, Portugal. Prominent black licorice notes over a base of plum, blackberry and savoury. Interesting and unique. Balanced, medium acidity, medium tannins, 13.5% ABV, medium alcohol. Great structure for many pairings. Great with hard cheeses, or blue cheese topped gourmet burgers. Tasted 2017 vintage in June 2019 decanted. 89 points
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

A vibrant young red that is all about the fruit. Ripe and mostly dark fruit, expect plum, raspberry, and black cherry. Tannins are pretty soft. Eminently drinkable, a friendly red with great value. Best with beef, game, or lamb, but quite agreeable with turkey, pork, or vegetarian.
Produced by Wines & Winemakers by Saven, their Old Vines Lua Cheia 2017 from the Douro wine region is quite easy to enjoy with its full-bodied ripe cherry, blueberry and blackberry flavours that linger on the palate. Tannins are rounded. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
