Leaning Post Gamay from Niagara Peninsula is a vibrant, food-friendly red wine showcasing notes of wild strawberry, tart cranberry, and dried rosemary with hints of white pepper and forest floor. It's dry and light to medium-bodied with silky tannins and energetic acidity that carries through to a clean, refreshing finish. Serve it slightly below room temperature with pan-seared duck breast as the wine's bright fruit and earthy character will complement the rich meat beautifully, or pair it with mushroom risotto where the wine's savory notes and lively acidity will enhance the creamy dish. Winemaker Ilya Senchuk, who has worked over 17 vintages in Niagara and co-founded Leaning Post with his wife Nadia in 2011, crafts this wine from a blend of fruit from Niagara-on-the-Lake and the debut harvest from their estate Senchuk Vineyard in the cool Lincoln Lakeshore sub-appellation. The winery's name references the "leaning posts" at the beginning of vineyard rows that anchor the framework for growing vines, symbolizing the support of friends and family essential to achieving their dream. This wine drinks beautifully now or can be enjoyed through 2030.

Gamay food pairings: pan-seared duck breast, mushroom risotto, aged brie cheese.
