A full-bodied, darkly flavoured Chianti from the heart of Tuscany about 20 kilometres from Florence. The Villa Le Calvane vines benefits from being planted on the slopes of the Montagnana Val di Pesa. Aromas of toasty oak, dark fruit, spice and leather. Pair with a hearty meat dish.

Chianti food pairings: meat lover's pizza, hard cheeses, pasta Bolognese.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Aromas of dark cherry, leather, cedar smoke and black pepper. Medium+ bodied, with mouthwatering acidity and tart cherry on the palate, and some smoky spice on the finish. Enjoy with sausage pasta in red sauce.
From the Tuscany wine region, Le Calvane Quercione 2015 Chianti is great value under $15 with sweet spice, blue floral, ripe red cherry and red currant flavours on the palate. Tannins are chewy. Pair with a meatlover's pizza. Twenty kilometres from downtown Florence, Villa Le Calvane is perched on the hills of the Montagnana Val di Pesa, adjacent to the legendary Castle of Montegufoni. - Community Wine Reviews
