Savoury with dried herbs and a firm tannic grip on the palate so decant 1-2 hours. Stéphan Vedeau produced this robust southern French red wine blend that's a typical GSM, mostly Grenache, with about a third Syrah and the remainder Mourvèdre grapes. He's a third generation winemaker from Cotes Du Rhone. His wines are all organic products, free of chemicals and pesticides, the fertilizers are organic and he uses ambient or natural yeasts to ferment the wines. The wine was matured concrete tanks for 12 months. The vines are planted on the eastern slopes near the town of Courthezon, which lies along the eastern border of Châteauneuf du Pape in the Rhone. The 2015 vintage of the Côtes du Rhône Premières Côte grapes were picked in late September and early October.

Food pairings: roast beef, smoked beef sammies with gravy, rib eye steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This red wine has purple hues in the glass. It has aromas of plums, raspberries, violet and red licorice, and flavours of blueberries and peppercorn, with velvety tannins and a lingering espresso finish.

Fabulous Faith rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Organic and made with no preservatives and only natural wild yeast make it a safe bet for fussy house guests.

I would recommend that this wine be aged for at least a year before drinking although it is delicious now.
You will notice a bright beautiful grape juice color if uncorked now but when aged the color deepens and the flavor is enriched dramatically. The fresher vintages boast a tart bite on the back of the tongue and milder fruit flavors.

This wine is the perfect addition to your wine cellar as it affordable and a definite investment in future premium wine drinking.
Great value under $20 on this Côtes Du Rhône from La Ferme Du Mont Première Côte (2015) This wine is robust, unfiltered on this mostly Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre red wine blend. Grapes for this wine have been grown organically without the use of chemicals and pesticides, even the fertilizers employed in the vineyards are organic. Stéphan Vedeau is a third-generation winemaker from the Cotes du Rhone. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
