Konzelmann Estate Winery Barrel Aged Reserve Cabernet-Merlot from Niagara Peninsula is a balanced, medium-bodied red offering aromas of dried basil, crushed blackcurrant, and hints of mineral stone. It's dry with measured tannins and vibrant acidity. Serve it slightly below room temperature with grilled lamb chops as the wine's savory depth and bright fruit will enhance the meat's richness beautifully, or pair it with aged cheddar cheese where the wine's structured grip and persistent finish will complement the cheese's sharp complexity perfectly. Winemaker Shantal Silverthorne, a Niagara College graduate with over 14 years of industry experience who advanced from lab technician to winemaker specializing in sparkling wines before joining Konzelmann, crafts this wine from 46% Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Founded in 1984 by fourth-generation German winemaker Herbert Konzelmann, the estate is Niagara's only lakefront winery and benefits from the moderating influence of Lake Ontario, which extends the growing season and protects vines from late spring frosts. Enjoy from 2025 or cellar for 2-4 years.

Cabernet Merlot food pairings: grilled lamb chops, aged cheddar cheese, beef burgers.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
